Abstract: College of Engineering Graduate Programs and the
Graduate College are working to develop an innovative program
to assist the College of Engineering in recruiting underrepresented
students into doctoral programs in engineering. The Engineering
Graduate Academic Diversity program (E-GrAD) will have as its
objective to bring qualified underrepresented undergraduate
students from around the country to ISU for a two-day visit
with the goal of recruiting them as ISU Doctoral students. During
this time they will learn about opportunities for graduate study
in engineering, the admissions process, the financial and academic
support available to them, and that ISU/Ames is a welcoming
environment where they can successfully live and study. Suggest
a goal for the % of potential students from the academy who
enroll at ISU (current measure is "some" will enroll).

Abstract:A recruitment video/DVD will be developed to educate
high school students about the diverse opportunities in agriculture.
A challenge for the COA is that agriculture education often

a more attractive place for high achieving students, and improve
retention and graduation of our students.
