Recent Council Activities

Jamie Pollard, ISU Athletics Director, discussed
his department's expansion plans at the February Open Forum sponsored
by the P&S Council.

Ellen Rasmussen, associate vice provost for budget
and planning at ISU, presented details for the implementation of
the University's new resource management model at the Open Forum
sponsored on Oct. 4 by the P&S Council. Slides
from her presentation are available in a .pdf file.

Warren Madden, center, ISU vice president for business
and finance, and Jerry Stewart, right, director of public safety
at ISU, discussed a proposal to arm campus police officers and
took questions from an attentive audience. A streaming

Open Forum
on Arming Campus Police Officers
The issue of how best to maintain a safe environment on the ISU campus dominated
the discussion at an Open Forum on arming campus police officers, sponored
by the P&S Council on Aug. 31. About 75 people attended. The issue
is on the P&S Council agenda at its next meeting Sept. 6 and on the agenda
of the Board of Regents at its September meeting. Text of the recommendation

P&S Council Retreat held in
June
Twenty-one members of the P&S Council started a new year on June 20 with
ATW Training's Maximum Leadership bus tour in Des Moines. Council members Pam
Owenson, left, Val Evans and Suzanne Coburn Van Veen are watching another Council
member perfect his jump shot in the virtual basketball exhibit at the Iowa

Retention and Recruitment Open Forum
An Open Forum recognizing P&S Retention and Recruitment Grant recipients
was held May 3 at the Hixson-Lied Student Services Center. A panel presentation
by Thomas Greenbowe, professor of chemistry, left; Dione Somerville, dean of
students; and Peter Englin, director of residence; was moderated by Jill Kramer,
right, program coordinator in the Dean of Students office. More

Nearly 20,000 pieces of birthday cake were served by members of the P&S Council
and their families after the 2007 Veishea Parade. View

Performance Management Program
At the March council meeting, Associate Vice president Carla
Espinoza gave a presentation about a new policy supporting the Performance
