Sign Up for P&S Professional Development Day 'Moving Forward:
Change as Opportunity'
The P&S Professional Development Day will be held April 4
from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Hotel at Gateway Center in
Ames. The cost is $65. William Parker will open the conference
with a keynote address entitled "Cultural Intelligence." Parker
is president of Parker & Parker Associates, a human resource
development consulting firm in Lexington, Kentucky, and retired
vice chancellor for minority affairs at the University of Kentucky.The
conference includes 20 sessions that cover coffee tasting, fair
trade, entrepreneurship, parenting, retirement, language and
diversity. Registration increases to $75 on March 21.

Ice Cream Social for P&S Staff on April 4
Get to know your P&S Council members at an ice cream social
on April 4 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Reiman Gardens. The P&S
Council is hosting the event to give you a chance to meet with
P&S Council members. It's also a chance to meet P&S employees
from across campus and the state. Admissions is free.
P&S Council Election Continues Until March 25
Be sure to cast a vote for for your favorite P&S Council
candidate. You will be able to vote through AccessPlus until 10
p.m. March 25. There are 17 seats to fill on P&S Council

Each P&S staff member is classified under one of the following
categories. The categories vary in size and one P&S Council
representative is elected for every 75 employees.
Academic and Research: 8.7% (103 votes out of 1,178)
Student Affairs: 13.3% (32 votes out of 241)
External Affairs: 14.2% (15 out of 106)
Extension: 21.8% (81 votes out of 371)
IPRT/Ames Lab: 14% (24 votes out of 171)
Business and Finance: 21.8% (76 votes out of 349)
