P&S Council President-Elect Selected
By unanimous vote of the
P&S Council, Camille Sloan Schroeder,
program coordinator in engineering academic and student affairs,
was selected as president-elect and will begin her term this June.
In June of 2009 she will become president.
Alumni Association Awards Nomination Deadline: Feb. 1, 2008
The deadline for nominating
alumni, faculty and staff for several Alumni Association awards
is Feb. 1, 2008. Most of the awards will be presented during the
Homecoming Awards Ceremony Oct. 25, 2008. The Superior Service
to Alumni Award will be presented during the Fall Convocation ceremony.

P&S Council Nominations Due: Feb. 15, 2008
Professional and Scientific Staff at ISU will have the opportunity
to fill 10 open seats on the P&S Council during annual elections
to be conducted online in March.
Vacancies exist in four of the Council’s six representation
areas for three-year terms that begin in July 2008. Successful
candidates will join 27 carry-over Council members whose terms
expire in 2009 or 2010. The Council includes one seat for every
75 P&S employees in each representation area. One new seat
will be added in the Academic and Research area this year due to
growth of the workforce.
Nominations are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, using a nomination
form available online at: http://www.pscouncil.iastate.edu/Election08Pre.html.
All P&S staff are eligible. Voting will be conducted March
3-21 on AccessPlus, and successful candidates will be installed
at the Council’s annual reorganization meeting in June.
Vacancies to be filled, by representation area, include the following:
- Academic and Research: 19 seats total, 5 seats open this year
including one new seat
- Extension: 5 seats total, 2 open this
year
- Student Affairs: 4 seats total, 2 open this year
- President’s
Office: 2 seats total, 1 open this year
- Business and Finance: 4 seats total, no open seats this year
- Institute for Physical
Research and Technology/Ames Lab: 3 seats total, no open seats
this year
P&S Award Nomination Deadline: Feb. 25, 2008
Nominations for several awards for which P&S employees are
eligible have nomination deadlines of Feb. 25. They include the
Regents Award for Staff Excellence, the Professional & Scientific
Excellence Award, the Carroll Ringgenberg Award, the P&S Outstanding
New Professional Award, and the Extension/Professional Practice
Awards.

Jamie Pollard, director of Athletics, will update the campus on
the Athletics Department’s Strategic Vision.
March 6
Memorial Union Campanile Room, 12 noon -1 p.m.
Richard Reynolds, director of the Memorial Union, will speak about
the renovations taking place in the Union.
April 3
Memorial Union Pioneer Room, 12 noon -1 p.m.
Ellen Rasmussen, associate vice president for budgeting and planning,
will be on hand to discuss the FY09 budget.
