Forum on Workplace Violence
Gene Deisinger, ISU Police, will discuss the prevalence and nature
of violence in the workplace at a P&S Open Forum on Thursday,
Feb. 2, from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Memorial Union Gallery. The
session will help participants recognize warning signs, de-escalate
volatile situations and use campus resources to deal with violence-related
concerns. Bring your lunch, if you like. See http://www.pscouncil.iastate.edu for more information.
An Open Forum also is planned at the March 2 Council meeting
when Ellen Rasmussen, assistant to the provost, and Mark Chidister,
assistant to the president, will discuss the University budget.
P&S Council Nominations Due
Feb. 17
Thirteen of the 35 seats on the ISU P&S Council are open
in an election that will be conducted online in March. Candidate
nominations are due no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17.
You are encouraged to nominate yourself or someone that you think
would make a good representative of you and your fellow employees
on the council. A nomination form and additional information

Awards Deadlines
Nominations for the Superior Service to Alumni award presented
by the ISU Alumni Association are due Wednesday, Feb. 1. Several
other awards for which P&S employees are eligible have
nomination deadlines of Feb. 27. They include the Regents Award
for Staff Excellence, the Professional & Scientific Excellence
Award, the Carroll Ringgenberg Award, the P&S Outstanding
New Professional Award, and the Extension/Professional Practice
Awards. Nomination information and additional details are available
