BENEFITS OPEN HOUSES
Wellmark and ISU Benefits Representatives will be available to answer questions and assist you in reviewing your options for next year on a first-come, first-service basis. These sessions will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in 3150 Beardshear Hall

SMOKE-FREE POLICY SURVEY
What do you think about extending the smoke-free policy at ISU?
Your P&S Council is seeking feedback from P&S employees regarding a motion to extend the smoke-free policy at ISU. We have developed a short, three-question survey and comment submission form at https://www.ag.iastate.edu/smoking/. Please complete the survey by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31. You will need to login using your university ID and password for one-time access; however, your vote and comments will remain anonymous. If you have problems accessing the site, please contact Tom Hillson at hillson@iastate.edu.
P&S OPEN FORUM: AWARDS 101-SOLVING THE MYSTERY
Please join us on Friday, Nov. 3 at 12:00 noon in the Memorial Union Gallery for an open forum from the P&S Awards committee. Learn the ins and outs of preparing a good awards application. Hear how other departments solicit nominations for and prepare their awards and listen as the committee members share what they look for as they evaluate awards
P&S CYTATION AWARD NOMINATIONS SOUGHT
Dec. 1 is the next nomination deadline for the P&S CYtation Awards. This award recognizes individuals who have performed above and beyond the call of duty, done something extraordinarily well, or acted in such a way as to make a very real difference at Iowa State University.
Nominees must be P&S employees and the nomination needs to be for work done within the past year (from the date of submission).
Winners of the award receive a Certificate of Award, a picture with President Geoffroy and the P&S CYtation Award winners, and a one-year membership to Reiman Gardens.

FLU SHOT CLINIC
Free flu shots will be available for all ISU faculty and staff on weekdays, Nov. 1-17 (10 a.m.-4 p.m., 205 Technical and Administrative Service Facility). Limited parking is available and employees must have their university identification number. For more information, call 4-0874.
ADVANCING ONE COMMUNITY AWARD, 2007
One individual, one group, and one student award, each with $500 stipend, to be given in conjunction with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan, 18, 2007. Nominations due in the Office of the Provost, 1550 Beardshear Hall, by Nov. 28. Recipients of the awards will have demonstrated commitment to the principles and goals of Dr. King over a sustained period of time through nonviolent actions to create an inclusive multicultural community and/or bring about systematic change aimed at reducing injustice and inequity at Iowa State University.
