Deadlines for Election and Awards Nominations
Two important deadlines are right around the corner for Iowa State
University P&S employees.
Friday, Feb. 17, is the final filing day for
candidates interested in seeking election to one of 13 seats on
the P&S
Council
that will be filled in online voting in March. Nominations can
be
submitted by e-mail and are due by 5 p.m. For a nomination form
and
additional information about the election, visit the P&S Election
web
page at
http://www.pscouncil.iastate.edu/Election06Pre.html
Monday, Feb. 27, is the deadline for submission
of nominations for six all-University awards for which P&S
employees are
eligible. They include the Regents Award for Staff Excellence,
the
P&S Excellence Award, the Carroll Ringgenberg Award, the P&S
Outstanding New Professional Award, and two Extension/Professional
Practice Awards. For more information on each award and on how

Time to Sign Up for Professional Improvement
Day
A Web site is now available at
http://www.ucs.iastate.edu/mnet/pid/home.html for P&S staff
interested in attending the Professional Improvement Day program
planned March 28 at the Gateway Center in Ames.
The day's events include a keynote speech by Pat Hurley on the
theme "Get A Life," a luncheon, and a series
of workshops. A detailed
agenda with workshop descriptions and a registration form are linked
from the Web site above.
P&S Salary Report Compares ISU with
the General Job Market
Are you interested in how P&S salaries at the University compare
with
salaries for similar positions in other organizations?
The 2005 Annual Report on P&S Salaries prepared by ISU Human
Resource
Services was published on the HRS web site in mid-January. The
report, which uses salary data from October 2005, compares ISU
employee salaries to market conditions. The report is available
at http://www.hrs.iastate.edu/ClassComp/ Look
for the "Report
on P&S
Salaries" under the P&S heading. That link takes you to
a 33-page
Acrobat .pdf file containing the complete report. The previous
report
was published summer 2004.
Open Forum at March 2 Council Meeting
The university budget for fiscal year 2007 is the topic for an
Open
Forum at the March 2 Council meeting. Ellen Rasmussen, assistant
provost, and Mark Chidister, assistant to the president, will
lead
the discussion at the forum from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Memorial
Union
Gallery. Bring your lunch and your questions.
