P&S Compensation Study Forums March 26 and April 1
Open Forums have been scheduled to provide an opportunity for the
Iowa State University community to ask questions after having time
to review the Competitive Cash Compensation Analysis Summary Report
on AccessPlus. Members of the ISU team that worked with Towers
Perrin on the study will be available to provide information and
answer questions.
Forum schedule:
Wednesday, March 26, 12:30-2:30 p.m. - 2055 Hoover
Hall
Tuesday, April 1, 3:45-5 p.m. Garden Room at
the Gateway Hotel after the Professional Development Day activities.
The Towers Perrin Summary Report on Competitive Cash Compensation
Analysis for the Iowa State University P&S compensation structure
is available for review using AccessPlus. To find the link for
the Summary Report after logging in to AccessPlus (https://accessplus.iastate.edu),
click on your "Employee" tab and click on the link "P&S
Comp Study" along the left side of the screen.
In addition
to the Summary Report, a link to a Feedback Form (Microsoft Word
doc) is available to assist in providing feedback regarding the
Summary Report. The Summary Report is available for review and
comment through April 7, 2008.
The video stream and PowerPoint slides for Executive Vice President
and Provost Hoffman's presentation on March 6, 2008 are available
on the P&S Council website: http://www.pscouncil.iastate.edu/
Election Results
Six new members were elected to the P&S Council
and three current members were re-elected in online voting that
ended Friday, March 21. A runoff election is scheduled to break
a tie in a vote for a 10th opening on the Council.
Successful candidates and their areas of representation are:
Academic
and Research (18.2% voter turnout): Christian Charbonneaux, Darrin
Fisher,Lisa Grazywacz, Robin McNeely (incumbent), and Allan Schmidt.
Extension (26.7% turnout): Mary Beth Kaufman and Virgil Schmitt
(incumbent)
Student Affairs (22.%5 turnout): Susan Lammers and Chad Olson
(incumbent)
President's Office (26.0% turnout): A runoff election is planned
to resolve a tie between Sara Gatchel and Sheryl Rippke. Voters
in this representation area will be able to cast a second vote
on AccessPlus between March 26 and March 31. Candidate profiles

No seats were open this year in the Business and Finance or Institute
for Physical Research/Ames Lab representation areas.
Total voter participation of 421 P&S staff represented 20.7%
of those eligible to vote in the four areas conducting elections.
The new members were elected to serve for three years and will
begin their terms at the June 5 Council meeting, joining 27 carry-over
Council members.
Student Affairs Advisory Committee Representative Needed
Anyone interested in serving as the P&S Council
representative on the Student Affairs Advisory Committee is asked
to send Dan
Woodin an e-mail message indicating interest and experience
related to the work of this committee. The committee has completed
its recommendations to the University Budget Advisory Committee
for strategic initiatives for this year. You can find information

The appointment is for three years.
2007 Flexible Spending Accounts Deadline: March 31
2007 Flexible Spending Account eligible expenses must be submitted
for reimbursement no later than March 31, 2008.

Professional Development Day April 1 At Gateway
The impact of technology on our lives and its implications in a
rapidly changing world will be the focus of the annual Professional
Development Day planned for ISU Professional and Scientific staff.
The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday,
April 1, at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center.
The day's featured speakers include Michael Bugeja, Director, Greenlee
School of Journalism; Scott McLeod, Director, Center for the Advanced
Study of Technology Leadership; and Floyd Davenport, Manager, ISU
Extension Information Technology. Participants also will be able
to select from 20 workshops scheduled during the day.
