RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION OPEN FORUM MAY 3RD
The members of the Professional and Scientific Council's Retention
and Recruitment Committee cordially invite you to attend the
2007 Open Forum "Recruitment and Retention--It's Everyone's
Business" on Thursday, May 3. This forum will showcase several
of the more innovative and successful retention and recruitment
programs funded this year.
Invited grant recipients will present their programs via poster
presentations. Included are "College Financial Success Program"; "Enhancing
the Climate in Engineering Classrooms"; "Go! E-zine"; "iTunes
U--College of Engineering"; "Journey to Success";
and "Jump Start!".
The forum will also feature a panel discussion by several university
faculty and staff members who will share their knowledge and experience
regarding retention. Panelists include Dr. Pete Englin, Director
of the Department of Residence; Dr. Dione Somerville, Dean of Students;
and Dr. Thomas Greenbowe, Professor of Chemistry and a 2005-2006
University Adviser of the Year.
Date: Thursday, May 3
Time: 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Location: Hixson-Lied Student Success Center, classroom facilities
rooms 0060/0020.
Other details: Light refreshments will be served; feel free to
bring a sack lunch. Door prizes will be awarded.

SPRING 2007 CYTATION AWARD WINNERS
The Professional and Scientific Awards Committee members have selected
the spring 2007 CYtation awardees. These persons were nominated
for performing above and beyond the call of duty, and/or doing
something extraordinarily well, or acting in such a way as to make
a very real difference in the institution. The nomination had to
be for work done within the past year. The winners will be honored
in a recognition ceremony in the President's Office on May 2nd.

Kate Shafer -- Academic Advisor, Early Childhood Education,
Human Development & Family Studies (HDFS) Human Sciences. In
recognition of providing services that go above and beyond the
duties expected of an academic advisor.
Catherine Webb -- Program Assistant , Partnerships in
Prevention Science Institute (PPSI). In recognition of her involvement
and enthusiasm with the PROSPER program and her creativity in maintaining
strong levels of participation.
Steve Rentschler -- Project Planning Specialist, Facilities
Planning & Management. In recognition of his role to support
ISU project activities as a project planner and estimator, construction
and project manager, and his work for the highly successful Black
Cultural Center renovation.
Nominator: Bob Currie
Kim Thanh Vo -- Accountant, Institute for Social Behavioral
Research (ISBR). In recognition of her extraordinary efforts in
providing the very best grant-production services on campus.
Anthony Connor -- Program Assistant, Observation Unit
Institute of Social and Behavioral Research (ISBR). In recognition
of his key role in studying factors that promote the well-being
of children and families.
Debra Sanborn -- Program Coordinator, Hixson Opportunities
Program and National Student Exchange and Interim Director of the
Academic Success Center. In recognition of going above and beyond
the duties expected by accepting additional responsibilities through
interim roles leading New Student Programs and the Academic Success
Center.
SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION CAKE
About 25 volunteers, P&S Council, family and friends, served
cake from 12:30 to 4:30 Saturday during the VEISHEA celebration.
They served 200 sheet cakes as well as 4,000 seperate pieces of
cake for a total of approximately 21,000 pieces of cake! See the
