P&S OPEN FORUM: NEW UNDERGRADUATE ACADEMIC PROBATION POLICY
In January 2007 the new undergraduate Academic Probation policy will go into effect. The intent of the new policy is to connect academic probation students at the earliest point possible with academic interventions and support. Advisers, faculty, and staff all play important roles in the lives of individual students who are experiencing academic difficulty.
The P&S Council invites everyone (faculty, staff and students) who interacts with undergraduate students to attend an Open Forum at noon on October 5th in the Gallery at the Memorial Union to learn more about the policy and the implementation plan.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE
P&S Employees now have three options for confidential help with workplace issues:
http://www.iastate.edu/~ombuds/ - The ISU Ombuds Office opened in August. The Ombuds Office assists Iowa State faculty, staff and graduate and professional students with work-related problems.
http://www.pscouncil.iastate.edu/PeerCommittee.html - The Peer Advisory committee provides a confidential means for an employee to obtain a perspective about employment concerns from peers familiar with the policies and practices of the university.
The Employee Assistance Program gives you timely and free access to confidential, professional services when you are facing a personal problem. The goal is to help you find solutions before the problem affects your health or job performance. Iowa State works with the Richmond Center to provide the EAP.
