Major agenda items discussed/committee action taken:
Approved a motion to terminate the ISUPlan Indemnity option for active and ERI employees, effective February 1, 2008. Background: currently, only 113 active ISU employees are in the Indemnity plan, and the plan coverage is essentially identical to the out-of-network part of the PPO plan. Enrollment in the Indemnity plan has been closed for a year or two, and people have been moving from this plan to the PPO plan every year. The administrative cost of keeping this third option is unsustainable with just 113 enrolled. The Benefits office has a plan to communicate extensively with the employees affected, and they believe this move will result in savings for those employees with no change to the coverage they enjoy (and very likely an improvement in their coverage).
