University Councils and Committees
Supervisory and Confidential Council
Malisa Rader, 294-3040
Committee Meeting Date: March 21,
2006
Major agenda items discussed/committee
action taken:
- Discussed how no professional development dollars are available
to S/C staff or merit staff. They were encouraged by
Brenda Behling to consider registering for the P&S Professional
Development Day. She believed it was open to any ISU
staff. Many were unaware of the opportunity. P&S
Council may want to consider promoting it more among staff
at ISU not necessarily classified as P&S.
- The Principles of Community endorsement passed unanimously. They
used the P&S resolution as a guide on what to write.
- Early Retirement Incentive was discussed. Brenda Behling
noted that it is illegal and age-discrimination, but that if
the legal issues can be worked out ISU administration would
likely include faculty, staff, and merit.
- National Special Olympics volunteer hours were discussed. S/C
are covered by the Fair Labors Act. This ties the hand
of administration. S/C and merit staff would need to
use leave time, comp time, or time without pay if they would
like to volunteer during work hours for the Special Olympics.
