University Councils and Committees
Transportation Advisory Council
Randy Larabee, 294-2716
Committee Meeting Date: October 16th, 2006
Major agenda items discussed/committee action taken:
Doug Houghton updated the committee on a Parking Systems project talking about the latest "green alternative" parking, which is the pervious pavement installed in Lot 122 north of the railroad tracks, out by EH&S. Pervious pavement is designed to allow the water runoff to go directly through the pavement taking the salts and oils directly into the soil beneath the concrete, as well as slowing down the runoff into the creeks and rivers and thus improving the water quality. No action taken by the Committee.
Received the annual report on Parking Systems financial status as a precursor for discussion of proposed parking permit fees for FY08. The proposed fees will be presented at the next meeting for both Parking Systems and the Memorial Union Parking Ramp. No action taken by the Committee
Received a update from Gail Ferlazzo (Memorial Union) about the status of the renovations on the MU Ramp. Goal is to have all work completed by December and operating the ramp on a paperless system. No action taken by the Committee.
Potential impact on P&S employees:
The Council's primary function is to serve as a channel for the expression of user-group opinions and preferences on matters pertaining to the movement of people and vehicles to, from, and around campus. The Council considers issues submitted to it from outside, initiates studies, and develop policy recommendations on transportation for the central administration. These shall include but are not limited to parking, streets, traffic signals, public transportation, bikeways, and facilities for commuters, pedestrian walkways, and traffic safety. The Council recommends changes to annual parking rates, fines and fees associated with parking tickets and revisions to the Parking Division Rules and Regulations Manual.
Next committee meeting date:
