Tuition Reimbursement
Program
Applications are
currently being accepted for the Tuition Reimbursement Program for
the spring 2017 semester!
Have you thought about
continuing your education? Eligible Professional and Scientific
employees are allowed to take up to four college credits per semester
and be completely reimbursed for the cost of tuition! Information
about the program, as well as application instructions, is available
online here.
The application
deadline for spring 2017 classes is January 6, 2017. More information
about the Tuition Reimbursement Program (including ways your
Professional and Scientific Council has impacted this program
recently) is available online here.

New! University Award
for Inclusive Excellence
This award recognizes
faculty and Professional and Scientific staff for their commitment to
inclusion initiatives and for advancing the University's mission of
diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Any Iowa State University
faculty or staff member can nominate someone for the award. Many
faculty and staff awards are submitted through the colleges; however,
this award does not require college-level vetting.
Nominations must be
submitted to the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost by February 10, 2017.

Scientific Council Professional Development Conference-February 28,
2017
The Professional and
Scientific Council Professional Development Conference registration
is now open! Register
today to receive the early
bird registration fee of $80! The conference will offer inspiration
and motivation through 32 sessions that focus on cultivating your professional - as well
as personal - life. The regular registration rate will be $95 after
January 31, and registration will close on February 10.
We hope you will join
us for an entire day dedicated to your professional development!

Alyssa Mittleider,
Academic Adviser II, Mechanical Engineering
Alyssa Mittleider,
Academic Adviser II in Mechanical Engineering, successfully balances
a multitude of responsibilities including advising over 300 students,
teaching ENGR 101, and coordinating the Mechanical Engineering
Learning Community. Alyssa is commended for developing a welcome back
event for Mechanical Engineering students - a first event of its kind
for her department. The event was so successful that it has become an
annual event. Alyssa also researched and developed a new curriculum
for an ENGR 101 course that will better serve transfer students.
