2020 Professional & Scientific Council Elections
John Burnett-Larkins, College of Engineering
I’ve been part of Professional and Scientific Council since 2017, having served a partial term and now wrapping up my first full term. I am very proud to be part of the accomplishments of the council in a time of many changes and challenges for Professional and Scientific employee at Iowa State University.
For the past year I have been the chair of the council’s Communications Committee, and as such, have helped oversee keeping P&S employees up to date with important news. The committee has made many strides in the past year, including the launching of an all-new P&S Council web site, a greatly enhanced social media presence, greater promotion of council events, improvements to the monthly council newsletter and other projects that are ongoing. We have also worked hard to enhance working relationships with other council committees.
I work for the College of Engineering as a communication specialist in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering and represent the College of Engineering on the Council. It has been a time of great transition for P&S employees in recent years, and there is more work to be done. I’d welcome the opportunity to help do that by serving another term on the Professional and Scientific Council. Thank you for your support!
