Jacob Larsen

I have been a part of the ISU community since 2005 and am currently the Director of the Language Studies Resource Center, where I work closely with many different ISU staff members inside and outside of LAS. These connections allow me to see how essential dedicated and hardworking staff members are to the quality work we do at ISU.

During my past two years on the P&S Council, I have worked hard with the other excellent and dedicated councilors to improve the working conditions of all P&S staff members. I have advocated for better training and onboarding and helped highlight the need for better training of supervisors. During my two years of service on the Peer Advocacy committee, the last year of which I was the chair, I have strived to improve the flow of information to P&S employees, led the launch of staff Interest Groups, and worked with other dedicated committee members to provide input on campus climate issues, staff grievance policies and procedures, and the need for better and cheaper employee child care options.

If I am re-elected to the P&S Council, I want to continue my work on the Peer Advocacy Committee and carry on our fight for fair pay and regular, substantial pay raises. We must continue to strongly advocate for staff needs as we enter a period of declining student enrollment and budget reductions so that our efforts are properly recognized and rewarded. I would be honored to have your vote and continue to serve you on the P&S Council.
