With previous experience as a Capitol Pathways Intern with the Minnesota Alliance with Youth in conjunction with Citizens League of MN during 2018, I had the opportunity to gain valuable experience within educational policy and advocated for amendments to policies pertaining to education within the state of Minnesota. T

he Citizens League of MN places college students of color in paid internships with government offices, nonprofits, corporations, and law firms where they can gain experience and build relationships in and around the Capitol. By meeting regularly with local officials and community leaders and building relationships we were able to implement policies that have had a tremendous impact on the state of Minnesota.

By joining the Professional and Scientific Council at Iowa State, I believe that I can expand on the experiences that I had in 2018 as a Capitol Pathways Intern with Citizen League and apply them to the council through the different initiatives that are in place. Throughout my early professional career, I have been working within Human Resources. I have had always had a huge interest in working behind the scenes within institutions and continue to champion change and being a member of the Professional and Scientific Committee will only enhance my goals and vision of impacting higher education institutions.
