President, Professional and Scientific Council
For fiscal year 2013/14 the Professional and Scientific Council chooses not to make any specific numeric salary recommendation, but instead, we chose to reinforce the initiatives taken last year and look to the future and better economic times.
In the past, the P&S Council Compensation and Benefits Committee had made specific recommendations for annual salary increases for Professional and Scientific staff. In reality, these recommendation statements were sent to and received by ISU administration very late in the budgeting process and were rarely any more than a reflection of decisions already made.
The intent of this motion is to make salary policy recommendations that will make salaries more competitive with private industry and allow for incentives to encourage high levels of performance for all P&S employees.
The attached motion was passed at the May 2, 1013 P&S Council Meeting and reflects our views on how salary issues should be handled this coming fiscal year.
