President Geoffroy to Speak at Feb. 2 Open Forum

ISU President Gregory Geoffroy will be the featured speaker at a special Open Forum sponsored by the P&S Council at noon Tuesday, Feb. 2, in the Memorial Union Pioneer Room. His presentation is titled The University Presidency: Guiding the Institution Through Challenging Times. He also will recognize recipients of the P&S CYtation Award who were selected from nominations submitted last year. They include Gloria Cain, Computer Science; Rob Ebel, FP&M; Kelly Frizzell, Student Health;Mary Beth Golemo, Department of Residence;Sara Kellogg, Student Health Center;Kelly McCool, FP&M;Dana McCullough, Electrical and Computer Engineering; Emily Trevillyan, Alumni Association; Travis Ballstadt, College of Engineering-Communications; Lesya Hassall, CELT; Deb Martin, Electrical and Computer Engineering; Lisa Smith, ITS; and Larry Newhouse, ITS.

The Council's regular February business meeting is Thursday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m.

 

Impacts of Temporary Leave/Layoffs Discussed at P&S Open Forum

A near-capacity crowd attended the P&S Council Open Forum in the Memorial Union Pioneer Room on Dec. 3 to hear a report by P&S Council Leaders on budget issues facing Iowa State University. Council Vice President Kevin Kane presented results of a staff survey taken in October to collect opinions on how to deal with budget shortfalls. Council members also took questions from the audience, several of which focused on dealing with the temporary layoff/furlough plan that has been imposed on staff. In addition, ISU resources that staff can use to stay informed on current budget information, strategic planning progress and human resource services will be highlighted.
