Awards Committee

The Awards Committee of the Professional and Scientific Council at Iowa State University is dedicated to recognizing the outstanding achievements and contributions of P&S employees. The committee oversees the nomination and selection processes for various university awards. By celebrating excellence in service, innovation, and leadership, the committee helps foster a culture of appreciation and recognition across campus. P&S awards for which the committee does the screening include:

Iowa State University is a great institution because of the talented and dedicated people who work here and make a real commitment to excellence. These awards were designed to recognize the dedicated Professional & Scientific employees, particularly those who might not otherwise receive recognition for outstanding work. The Professional & Scientific Council believes that an employee who goes above and beyond their normal responsibilities, does something extraordinarily well, and acts in such a way as to make a very real difference in the institution deserves to be recognized.

Each year Iowa State University recognizes the excellence of staff accomplishments through presenting awards at the university and college or unit level. With these awards, we celebrate those who have demonstrated their commitment to learning, discovery, and engagement; the cornerstones of Iowa State’s land-grant mission.

Professional and Scientific employees may be nominated for awards within specific units and at various levels of the university. Individual units (ie: colleges, Extension & Outreach, P&S Council, etc) have various award categories. Those unit level awards are managed by the unit. Please refer to your college or unit awards page for more information. Some university level awards allow direct or self nominations while some categories require the college or unit forward their nominations to the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost for university-level awards. Review the award criteria to determine which path is possible.

Help us highlight Professional and Scientific employees doing wonderful work! You can nominate a fellow Professional and Scientific employee (or team of employees) for the Highlighting ISU Professional and Scientific employees section of the Professional and Scientific Council Newsletter! Submit your nominations using this form, tell us about a P&S employee or team doing outstanding work in your area in 100 words or less and include a picture of them.
