Matthew Femrite

I have worked at Iowa State for over one and one-half years as a Legal Consultant. In this position, I work on the contract between Iowa State’s Child Welfare Research and Training Project and the Department of Human Services’ Child Support Recovery Unit researching legal issues encountered by the unit.

Before coming to Iowa State, I worked for the Iowa Civil Rights Commission investigating complaints of discrimination, along with serving for two years on the committee that organized the commission’s annual symposium. In my short time at Iowa State, I have been impressed by the Professional and Scientific Council’s efforts to provide professional development opportunities to P&S employees, particularly the Profession Development Conference every February.

I want to serve on the council because I believe that these opportunities are an invaluable resource and that my experience would contribute to the council organizing and providing these opportunities. I also see serving on the council as an opportunity to represent my fellow P&S employees and to meet and connect with employees from other colleges and departments.
