Deanna Sargent, Student Affairs
I hold a BBA in Marketing and minor in Art & Design from Iowa State. I joined the team at Thielen Student Health Center in 2016 and am currently the Communications & Marketing Manager for the Student Health & Wellness unit where I develop and oversee the comprehensive marketing, publicity and communications plan for the clinic, student counseling services and unit.
Continuing to learn and stay on top of trends in my field are very important to me. I am currently finishing up 12+ Supervisory Leadership Series. I was a part of the inaugural class of the Student Affairs Leadership Institute. Both offered insights into navigating Iowa State and showed glimpses of what it’s like being in the field of higher education. I am currently working towards becoming certified as a College Health and Wellness Professional through the American College Health Association.
After being a part of the conference sub-committee for the past two years, where my role focused on the branding of the event, signage, journal design and social media, I am interested in expanding my involvement and serving on the council. During my time on the council, I hope I can learn more about the workings of higher education, expand my involvement on campus, increase my knowledge of resources of campus partners, and represent my fellow professional and scientific colleagues. I enjoy meeting new people, taking on challenges and working with all levels of staff and management.
