2020 Professional & Scientific Council Elections

It has been my pleasure to serve on council for the last three years as a representative in Academic Affairs. As I have now moved to ISD I would like to offer my nomination for council for my new area of University Services. It has been my fortune and honor to serve as Council's Vice President for University Planning and Budget for the last two years. These last two years have been challenging times for Iowa State University on the budget front and the next three years look equally difficult. Enrollment declines and a flat state appropriation will test this institution and its staff.
Council needs to be aggressive, pro-active, and leading the way in facing the new budget realities. This will require creative thinking, new solutions, and a commitment to supporting our colleagues. Communication with the Professional and Scientific staff on campus will be paramount. I don't wish to sound all doom and gloom. Iowa State University is and will remain a premier institution of higher learning that we can all be proud to work for and represent. We have faced similar challenges in the past and we have overcome them. We can do the same in the coming years.
